Jimmy C. Draughn High School is located in Valdese, NC, just west of Hickory on Interstate I-40. Student enrollment is close to 650 school-wide and our band program hosts 84. Combined with the choral department, the music programs at Draughn draw about 23% of the school population making the performing arts a highlight of this school.

Symphonic Band

Students begin work in the Symphonic Band in November after marching season is over. They perform 4 concerts throughout the year and at a number of community events.

Percussion Ensemble

Our Percussion Ensemble focuses on chamber works for percussion students that may involve marching, tracitional, and non-traditional instruments.

Jazz Catz

The Jazz Band is open to all students and meets during the Spring semester. Repertoire varies from jazz, rock, funk and a variety of other popular styles.
